Development Phase
1) Training Prescription
Once your priorities are clear, I create a structured, progressive plan tailored to the specific adaptations you need for your ‘A’ race. Each session has a distinct purpose identifying the system we’re developing, explaining its importance, and showing how it advances your progress. You’ll train with precise intensity zones, focused workouts, and a weekly schedule designed to fit seamlessly into your life.
A crucial aspect of this stage is managing the balance between your aerobic and anaerobic contributions. By using Training Impact Scores, I monitor how each workout challenges your aerobic endurance versus your anaerobic power. This approach ensures we develop the appropriate energy systems at the optimal time, prevent excessive fatigue, and build the precise fitness profile your event requires.
2) Testing & Reassessment
To ensure your training remains honest and grounded in reality, we conduct tests and reassessments at strategic intervals. These assessments are carefully selected to reveal how your aerobic and anaerobic systems are responding and whether your training is driving the expected adaptations.
After each reassessment, I update your zones, fine-tune your training plan, and adjust the balance between aerobic and anaerobic efforts so your next training phase is based on precise, up-to-date data.
It’s a straightforward approach: measure, analyze, refine, and advance.
3) Monitoring & Feedback
Your training is continuously monitored, not only through data but also by how you feel, how you recover, and how you respond each day. I track your performance trends, fatigue levels, and the balance between aerobic and anaerobic load using Training Impact Scores. This enables me to make timely adjustments: pushing you when you’re ready, protecting you when fatigue builds, and ensuring your training stays aligned with the demands of your ‘A’ race.
Your feedback is just as valuable as the data. Together, we make smarter decisions, prevent unnecessary setbacks, and keep your training on the right track. You’ll never be left guessing, and you’ll never train alone.
